Local Hawaiian Oasis Bar
“AWA” or “KAVA” is a traditional Hawaiian drink made from the root of a plant known as Awa (Piper methysticum), which serves as a natural antidepressant and relaxant. Awa has been used by people indigenous to the South Pacific for over 3,000 years and has been used for centuries as a ceremonial, medicinal and also recreational drink in Polynesian Society. Nowadays, KANAKA KAVA BAR, located on the Big Island, is serving up this legendary beverage and introducing it to the world in a bar setting.
Kava is considered a safe and effective herbal remedy for insomnia, stress, anxiety, etc. To make fresh kava, the root of the plant must be harvested, washed and pulverized. Next, the resulting mash is strained through a cloth and mixed with water, then served in a coconut shell. For a stronger effect it is recommended to drink kava on an empty stomach.
At the Kanaka Kava Bar you’ll find groups of locals sipping on kava from coconut cups just chilling out and having fun. This bar may not serve alcohol but it’s exactly the right atmosphere for a daytime hangout!
Come to where the traditional culture of Hawaii meets modern times and drink up some of that Aloha spirit!
