Afternoon Tea at Halekulani Hotel
Want to enjoy your tea like the Europeans do? Well, Halekulani Hotel offers you a chance to rub noses with your friends while drinking some great tea. You’ll see a few male guests here, but the female guests outnumber them overwhelmingly at this first-class hotel in Hawaii. Girls galore gather at 'Afternoon Tea' to talk the day away as they eat snacks and drink their delicious tea. Watch out Hawaii, 'Afternoon Tea' gives all you girls out there to relax and let it all out over a cup of their fabulous tea.
To begin with, 'Afternoon Tea' offers customers that European feelin' by giving them a chance to experience Europe's traditional tea time. In the mornings, the aristocrats of England would have some morning tea in bed right after they woke up, then they would eat a hearty breakfast and eat a light lunch. Because of that, they would become a little hungry during the time before dinner and that in turn caused them to start having tea parties. That is how afternoon tea is said to have originated.
Let’s drop by 'Afternoon Tea' at Halekulani Hotel, which is rated as one of the top first-class hotels in Hawaii! Around this area are the new beach walk and the land that the rumored Trump Tower is being built on. This area is constantly being revamped so keep your eyes peeled.
On the side of the lobby, there is a monument placed there. Did you know that this was made with a Hawaiian motif? It was made with an ancient helmet that Hawaiians used as a motif. You’ll usually see key chains like this being sold at souvenir shops.
From the lobby with an ocean view, we keep heading toward the back. The lobby at the Halekulani hotel in which you can feel the ocean breeze while you walk is great. While resisting the urge to be satisfied by the scenery alone, we head toward our destination.
Now we can see the courtyard. In the back, you can see a building with an American flag and a Hawaii flag hanging from it. The first floor of that building is our destination: The Veranda. It’s only a few more steps until we can have our afternoon tea.
This is the courtyard that you can see from The Veranda. In the back right is the lobby and on the left next to the flower bed is the path that we took to get here. It is also perfectly fine to cut across the courtyard to get here. They also hold wedding ceremonies in this courtyard as well, so there are some days where you can watch a wedding ceremony while enjoying your afternoon tea.

I received a menu from the courteous waiter. We can finally order. While it is possible to order simple items such as snacks, we order the most popular afternoon tea. In the middle of the menu, there are 9 different blends of tea that you can choose and order from. The refills for the teas are unlimited and it comes with a finger sandwich, a scone, and a dessert for $22. In general, afternoon tea is served on a three-tiered tray, however here they serve one plate at a time as if it were a course.
On the table there is sugar, milk, honey, lemon amongst other things to put in your tea, all set neatly. We were delighted that they also have brown and white sugar for the guests.
The tea finally arrives! The tea is inside this pot, so drink as much as you want. When the pot is empty, they’ll bring a fresh pot to your table. It’s all right if you drink too much that you want to use the restroom. There is a clean bathroom right outside of the Veranda.
The first dish, the finger sandwiches are brought to the table. All of them are delicious without a doubt, the flavor is doesn’t interfere with your conversation, and the size is just right to pop into your mouth. This is actually a very important point.
The second dish is their famous scones. There are many fans of the scones they serve here.br />
he outside is crisp, while the insides are soft. It’s too good for words!
This is the cream and the jam that you can put on the scones. The jam at the Halekulani is good, but the cream that has things like cream cheese and lemon inside of it is just wonderful! Splitting the scone in half horizontally and then putting the cream on it is the easiest and most efficient way of eating it.
And finally the dessert! They will bring a cart with small cakes and pies on it, and you can choose 3 different desserts from the cart. All of them look so good that it’s hard to decide which 3 you want.
It isn’t a full meal, but because you can take your time in eating a little at a time, you might actually become full near the end. Due to the fact that there aren’t many tables here, I also saw a lot of people being turned away. If you can’t manage to get a seat here, we recommend trying “House Without a Key” in the Halekulani. You won’t be able to enjoy the afternoon tea style, but you will be able to enjoy the ocean view while having a drink.
