Kauai was inundated with heavy rains yesterday, causing flooding throughout the island. Hanalei saw as much as 7 inches of rain fall in 24 hours. The rain also caused problems when a cargo container broke free on the Hanapepe River and became lodged against the bridge on the highway. It caused flooding all the back to Waimea. The north of the island also saw heavy rain, with the closing of the some of the bridges on Kuhio highway.
