Want to now where to get the cheapest and freshest vegetables in Hawaii? Well, most of you probably head down to to Don Quixote, Star Market, or many of the other supermarkets nearby. But, today we will be shedding a whole new light on grocery shopping so keep your ears open and your eyes peeled because this will change everything you thought you new about grocery shopping in Hawaii.
You will probably never see this grocery store coming because it is located inside University of Hawaii! Every Friday, U.H. hosts the ‘U.H. Farmer’s Market’ which offers students and everyone alike a large selection of vegetables and fruits to choose from.
You are probably asking your self, “Why would I go to the U.H. Farmer’s Market when I can go to the market right next to my house?” The answer is, “The Prices are super cheap and the quality is great!” For instance, bananas are only 89 cents per pound! Just because the prices are cheap does not mean that you are losing quality. Sweet, large Japanese Fuji apples are only 3 apples for $2.50 which blows away most of the competing supermarkets!
U.H. Farmer’s Market also offers a wide selection of vegetables. Perfect for those healthy, vegetable-filled dinners. With a bag of garlic for only $1 you will always come out a winner with at least 2-3 heads of garlic per bag. So, you can spend just a couple of dollars and have the perfect ingredients for great tasting Yakiniku or Fried Rice.
U.H. is situated right below Manoa Valley and the weather is perfect here. With blue skies and the everyday light showers you will enjoy your shopping experience. Not to mention, there are a couple of ATM’s located right in front of the farmer’s market so you will have no trouble getting some ‘green to buy some green’.
The farmer’s market is open only on Friday’s. Anyone wanting to buy from the U.H. Farmer’s Market can feel free to take a walk onto to the U.H. campus and buy away. There is no need for I.D. because the farmer’s market is available to the public. The U.H. Farmers Market is: close, cheap, and convenient which gives everyone 3 good reason why they need to get down to U.H. every Friday to check out the weekly specials.
