Avoid traffic and commute by boat!
The Bus is the most common transportation mode in Hawaii. However, THE BOAT has emerged as a rival! Just as the name indicates is a transportation mode that goes across the ocean using a boat.
The boat leaves Waianae headed North-East, with stops along the way until Aloha Tower.
It used to take about 2 hours in the morning traffic to reach downtown by car or bus but it now takes less than half that amount of time by boat.
The passenger fare is 2 dollars one-way or 40$ for a monthly pass, and you can use the same transfer or pass for either The Boat or The Bus. One difference from the bus though is that you can eat and drink on the boat! Now you can not only get to work quicker by boat, you can also enjoy a relaxing breakfast on a boat every morning if you like!
It’s a nice ride, so even tourists are taking The Boat as a new and original way of sightseeing! I just love the feel of the ocean wind as I commute!
