It is tradition in Hawaii to celebrate every occasion with a flower lei, whether it be a birthday, graduation, wedding, etc. That’s why you often see people walking around with beautiful leis around their neck on the street, at school, and even at work.

You’ll also find leis just about anywhere on sale for your convenience, but prices tend to vary depending on location. Prices tend to be extremely high in Waikiki, as you can imagine! So where do the locals get their hands on affordable leis anyways?

A lot of people are mistakenly under the impression that downtown shops offer the best prices on leis, while in fact, you’ll find the best leis at the lowest prices next to the airport just past the Arrival entrance. Look for the “Lei Stands” sign to find a dozen little stands making and selling leis.

Next time you have an occasion celebrate, remember the airport is the best place for leis!
