Event：Documentary film "Rokkasho-mura Rhapsody" Date：July 12th @5PM & 13th @2PM Place：University of Hawaii Spalding Auditorium (Click here for Campus map) Rokkashomura Rhapsody -An In-Depth Documentary on THE NEWEST Nuclear Power Reprocessing Plant- Effects of Nuclear Energy in a Quiet Japanese Town.The documentary film “Rokkasho Rhapsody” will be shown at the University of Hawaii Spalding Auditorium for two days, by The Surfrider Foundation Oahu Chapter in collaboration with its Japan Chapter.
Rokkasho, a village in Northern Japan, is now getting lots of attention, internationally, with the largest and the newest Nuclear Waster Power Reprocessing Plant completed in 2004. There is a huge argument between the proponents, who think that nuclear power is efficient, and the opponents, who think that the result could be irreparable. The director, Kamanaha Hitomi shows the both sides of the issue respectfully.

Double Joy Disco is Club Thirtynine’s signature event. The Double Joy party is a "gathering of dancers and connoisseurs of adventurous musical tastes," which is to say it's a loosely programmed event based on left-of-center dance music from the 70's to present. Some people call it "unclassic disco", though it is neither classic nor disco. Double Joy is inspired by thirtyninehotel owner and global cult hero DJ Harvey. In addition to our own team of super talented resident DJ's, this year the club will be hosting dj's from around the world who mesh with the anything-(of quality)-goes attitude.

Los Jaichackers is a collaborative effort between San Francisco-based Julio César Morales and Los Angeles-based Eamon Ore-Giron.Los Jaichakers have been collaborating since 2002, specifically on audio/video projects, which include music and video artwork based on the musical compositions of the originator of Mambo, Perez Prado. Their work integrates performance, video, signage and musical production based on the improvised strategies of the world's club and bedroom DJ's, record collectors, street vendors and musicians, and informal economists.

Lahaina celebrates the annual migration of Pacific Humpback whales with ocean arts festivities. Thursday and Friday evenings (7 to 9pm) feature marine biologist educational presentations and videos in Campbell Park, located next to The Wharf Cinema Center. On Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm in Banyan Tree Park, artists display their best marine-themed art for sale, while Hawaiian musicians and hula troupes entertain. Who and Why: The Carnival is sponsored by the School's Junior Class to benefit the Punahou financial aid program and student activities.
Features: This year's theme, chosen by the sponsoring class of 2009, is "Road Trip USA: Are we there yet?" and will be reflected in the decoration and signage for Carnival.
