Sewer Work
December 10, 2007
Anyonw who has driven down Kapiolani Blvd recently will have noticed that sewer work in the middle lane is finished, but not for long! Honolulu has just announced plans to repair or replace twenty-five miles of sewer lines from Kalihi to Nu'uanu. The repairs are part of a 400 million dollar plan to fix sewers by 2010. The city was forced to face its ailing infrastructure problem when a sewer line broke in Waikiki and dumped tons of untreated sewage into the Ala Wai canal. Bad press and environmental uproar brought attention to the problem. Locations for repair include, Kaneohe and Kailua, Waimalu and along Kalaniana'ole Highway. Expect traffic headaches for some time to come.
