Times Supermarket Walkout
December 19, 2007
A recent contract spat and walkout between Times supermarket and workers in the meat and fish packing departments left some stores with low supplies this week. The Hawai'i Teamsters & Allied Workers Union Local 996 staged a walkout a few days ago to protest what it saw as inadequate health care compensation. Management wanted to limit health care coverage to only one year if a worker was out on disability. Both sides have been negotiating the issue since the end of the contract in September.
