January 3, 2008
The growth for the number of tourists visiting Hawaii last year was nearly flat, with growth expected to be around 1% this year.
A large portion of the downturn is from weakening numbers of visitors from the Mainland. Rising fuel costs and a fluctuating US economy is causing many to postpone or cancel vacation plans. Hotel room prices are expected to rise 3%-5%.
