A tuna scare of sorts is going on in New York at the moment, after high levels of mercury were found in several sushi shops. Over 20 stores were tested around Manhattan this week and five were found to have levels over 1 part per million, the maximum allowed by the Food and Drug Administration. Most of the tuna tested was the larger blue fin, a species notorious for high levels of mercury.
