President Speaks About Economy
February 28, 2008
President Bush acknowledged that the US economy is slowing down, but not headed for recession in a speech given today. The President also reiterated his hope that the $150 billion stimulus package passed last month will be enough to help the economy. The package, which will go into effect sometime in May, includes a $600 payment to individuals, $1200 to families and provisions for tax breaks for businesses purchasing new equipment.
