EPA Meeting On Sand Island Plant
March 13, 2008
A public hearing held by the EPA at Washington Middle School drew protests from community and members of local government yesterday. The meeting was held to discuss plans to improve the wastewater collection facility at Sand Island. The EPA claims that the city is in violation of the Clean Water Act and that the facilities at Sand Island and Honouliuli need up to $800 million worth of repairs in order to meet environmental compliance.
