American Cancels 1,000 Flights

The largest US carrier, American Airlines, has cancelled 1,000 domestic flights today in order to complete inspections and repairs to its MD-80 aircraft. Acting on an FAA directive, the company has cancelled roughly 45% of its flights to search for faulty wiring bundles in the wheel wells. It is the same problem had forced the airline to cancel 245 flights on Tuesday and several flight two weeks ago. The company estimates that over 100,000 passengers were affected across the nation.
