Bottomfishing Ban
April 9, 2008
A ban on bottom fishing in Hawaiian waters is to go into effect next week. The Department of Land and Natural Resources announced the ban after finding that the allowable limit for commercial fishing had been reached back in March. Fish prohibited from being caught include the ehu, gindai, kalekale, lehi, onaga, 'opakapaka and hapu'upu'u. The ban affects both commercial and recreational fishermen.
