Volcano Park Still Closed
April 9, 2008
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park remained closed today due to the threat of toxic sulfur dioxide gas. The park was closed yesterday after monitoring stations reported high levels of the gas in the area. Visitors at the Volcano House hotel and the Kilauea Military Camp inside the park were evacuated after the warnings. This morning, officials declared that conditions inside of the park were worse today than they were yesterday.
