In an effort to curb rising costs, the Honolulu Police Department has announced plans to buy hybrid cars for its fleet. The department plans to buy 6 hybrid cars to run a test program. HPD is not seeking any extra money for the program, since the money for the cars will come from the sale of seized property and federal funds.
