FAA System Failure
May 23, 2008
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had to shut down a pilot safety notification system late last night after the system failed Thursday. The system, used by the FAA to issue preflight notices to pilots about runway, equipment and security issues, has been down for at least 12 hours. Officials with the agency have stressed, however, that passenger safety has not been compromised in any way. There have been no delays caused by the outage and commercial flight schedules are running smoothly.
