US Truck Sales Down
June 3, 2008
US truck and SUV sales were down, leading to punishing losses for US automakers. Sales at GM have plunged 30 percent, Ford sales fell by 19 percent and Chrysler has also faced steep declines as consumers move away from purchasing gas guzzling trucks and SUVs. As if to underscore the point, Honda's Civic and Accord and Toyota's Camry and Corolla sedans have outsold Ford's F-Series pickup truck. It's the first time that sedans have outsold the bestselling truck since 1991.
