JAYoung Bros. Raises Fuel Surcharge

Young Brothers Ltd., raised its inter-island fuel surcharges by 51.8 percent today. The rate for the fuel surcharge will increase from the current 2.78% to 4.22%. While the recent increase may seem high, the surcharge actually lags the cost of fuel because it is based on the average fuel costs for the previous three-month period. The company has stated that their fuel costs have increased 44% since the last rate increase back in March and only started adding fuel surcharges to its shipping costs last December.
