Tomatoes Pulled From Stores
June 9, 2008
The US Food and Drug Administration warned consumers on Saturday of a Salmonella outbreak reported in connection with tomatoes. The warning includes certain raw red plum, red Roma, and red round tomatoes, and products containing these tomatoes. The FDA has yet to identify the source of the contaminated vegetables. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said at least 145 cases have been reported and 23 people have been hospitalized due to eating uncooked tomatoes.
