Mississippi Floods
June 18, 2008
The Mississippi River broke through 11 more levees on Wednesday causing massive flooding. The flooding comes days after heavy rains pounded most of the central US, causing the worst flooding in over 15 years. States affected by the rains include Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota. Millions of acres of farmland have been destroyed and tens of thousands of residents evacuated from their homes. Iowa, prime US farmland, has been particularly hard hit.
