ZipperLane Needs Three
June 24, 2008
Commuters will have to add a second passenger if they want to keep using the high occupancy ZipperLane. Starting on July 8, the State Department of Transportation will require three occupants per car for use of the high occupancy lane between Waikele to Iwilei. The extra lanes, known as ZipperLanes, are counter flow lanes along the westbound freeway lanes of the H-1 and Nimitz Highway. The ZipperLanes are used during peak traffic to relieve congestion.
