July 9, 2008
Seventeen newborn babies were accidentally given an overdose of the blood thinner Herapin at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. The hospital reported that one of the babies has since died after being given the drug. The babies were all in the neonatal intensive care unit at the hospital when the mistake was discovered on Sunday, two days after the babies received the blood thinner. The child who died was extremely sick, and hospital officials are unsure of the death is related to the overdose.
