Bush Lifts Offshore Drilling Ban
July 14, 2008
In an effort to offset high oil prices in the US, President Bush has lifted the executive ban on offshore drilling. The ban, put in place by his father back in 1990, limits the scope of any oil drilling in US waters. The move, however, is mostly symbolic, as there is federal legislation set by Congress and some states that limit offshore oil.
