HR BioPetroleum, Alexander & Baldwin, Inc., Hawaiian Electric Company and Maui Electric Company today announced they have agreed to pursue building a micro-algae plant on Maui. The plant would use algae to produce lipid oil for conversion to biodiesel fuels and other products. If all goes well, the plant could be operational in 2011.
