In an effort to raise awareness about the trash in our island waters, big wave surfer Alec Cooke is swimming around the island of Oahu. Outfitted with a snorkel, mask and fins, Cooke began his swim on September 5th from Haleiwa on the North Shore. Followed by a rescue boat, Cooke swims from dawn to dusk with breaks along the way to avoid heavy areas of pollution and sharks.
