Dangerous Surf
January 14, 2008
Dangerous surf pounded the North Shore yesterday, with wave heights reaching the 20-25 foot range at Pipeline. Hundreds were turned away from swimming and surfing and there was a report of one rescue.
High surf is expected to pound the northern shores of Oahu, Maui and Molokai overnight, with waves in the 30-40 foot range then dropping to around 20 feet. West shores will also see waves as high as 20 feet. Forecasters call for the shifting of the swell, which could bring larger waves for the east shores on Tuesday.
A high surf warning will remain in effect until 4.00pm today.
