The National Weather Service announced on July 16 that a hurricane would be passing south of the Big Island from the evening of July 20 to the early morning hours of July 21. The first hurricane to pass the Hawaiian Islands in 2007, known as Cosme, is expected to pass south of the Big Island at a speed of 45mph.
