The US Army has decided to keep a Stryker Brigade based in the Islands; competing locations for the Stryker Brigade had included Alaska and Colorado. The Stryker is the latest weapons system for the Amy and the unit station in Hawaii will consist of 4,000 soldiers and 325 Stryker-type vehicles. Currently, Styker units are deployed in Iraq and are expected to remain there until 2009.
