Honolulu Marathon Winner Disqualified
June 25, 2008
The winner of the 2007 Honolulu Marathon was disqualified yesterday. The two time winner, Ambesse Tolossa from Ethiopia, failed a drug test from the US Anti-Doping Agency. The Agency found high levels of morphine, a banned substance, from samples taken at the time of the race. Kenya's Jimmy Muindi, the runner-up in the race, will now be declared the winner.
