No Fine For Wardrobe Malfunction
July 21, 2008
A Philadelphia appeals court threw out a $550,000 Federal Communication Commission (FCC) indecency fine against the CBS television network in connection with Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" at the 2004 Super Bowl. During the halftime show, Justin Timberlake reached over and ripped off a part of Janet Jackson's top, exposing her right breast on national television. After the incident, witnessed for only a brief moment by 90 million viewers, Timberlake made his now famous "wardrobe malfunction" comment and the network was inundated with complaints.
