Mayor Race Down To Two

Two candidate for Honolulu Mayor will face a run-off in November after last weeks primary that saw three candidates fighting for the job. Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, who defeated City Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi and UH Professor Panos Prevederous, was unable to secure more than 50 percent of the votes needed to win the race outright. The mayor ended up with 49 percent of the vote. Kobayashi recieved 30 percent while Prevederous turned out to be more of a force than predicted. The anti-rail candidate who spent almost no money in the race pulled in 18 percent.
