The National Bureau of Economic Research has announced that the US is offically in a recession. In a statement released today, the bureau confirmed that the economy has been in a recession since December 2007. While the standard definition of a recession is a decline in the gross domestic product for two consecutive quarters, the bureau defines it more broadly as a decline over the entire economy for several months.
