Executives for the Big Three automakers have told Congress that they would accept salaries of $1 a year if the government goes ahead with loans to bail out the companies. The announcement came as management for Ford, Chrysler and General Motors but pressure on Congress to extend $25 billion in so-called bridge loans to help bolster the ailing companies.
