Big Island Mayor Suffers Heart Attack
August 11, 2008
Big Island Mayor Harry Kim suffered a heart attack at his home on Sunday and was flown to the Queen's Medical center for treatment. This is his second heart attack in three years, according to Janet Snyder, public relations direcor for the mayor's office.
Kim, 68, was at home with his wife when the heart attack occurred. He was rushed to the Hilo Medical Center and later flown by air ambulance to Oahu.
Syder said that Kim refused to go to the hospital initially and is eager to return to work, but doctors have kept him at Queen's for observation until they determine if surgery or further treatment is needed.
