A small earthquake hit just after one in the morning on Wednesday near Waianae. The quake registered 3.0 in the Richter scale and there were no reports of injuries or property damage.

Residents in the are said that they felt the earthquake and there were even reports of Kailua residents, located on the opposite side of the island from the epicenter, calling in reports about hearing and feeling the quake.

Initial reports from the USGS put the temblor about 30 miles off the coast of Waianae. Officials say that no tsunami was generated by the tremors.
