Ala Moana Beach Park Shooting
A Kalihi teenager is dead after a deadly shooting at Ala Moana Beach Park over the weekend. Police officers responded to a large fight and gunfire at about 2:40am Monday morning. The victim in the shooting was identified as 18-year-old Khaynava Phanthanouvong whom sources say came to Hawaii to live with his sister just about a month ago.
Phanthanouvong was with a group of about five friends at a party when he agreed to meet another man for a fight. At the park, the men were confronted by two others before shots were fired. Investigators say the shooting suspect is about 5'4" tall with a stocky build, and was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt and blue jeans.
