Honolulu Zoo Tiger Cub Photos
October 8, 2008
The Honolulu Zoo has just released the first photos of the three tiger cubs born back in September. The cubs are the first tigers to be born at the zoo in 27 years and have yet to be named.
The trio was born to Sumatran Tigers named Chrissie and Berani. The two are part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan for Sumatran Tigers and previously produced a litter to two males and one female at the Ft. Wayne Children's Zoo on April 22, 2004.
This is the first time that tigers have been born at the Honolulu Zoo since 1981.
Zoo officials hope that after the cubs are examined an inoculated in a few weeks, they can be released into the tiger habitat for public viewing.
