Hawaii Cold Outbreak
All over the world, the common cold is taking over by storm. The cold is spread from person to person as they crowd inside classrooms, trains, and busses etc. The news is flooded with reports of flu and influenza outbreaks every year around this time.
The cold also takes its course even in the islands of Hawaii with its year round sunshine and beaches. Recently, Hawaii has a high number of people who had received the flu vaccine or who caught a cold preventing them from going on with their lives. Whether it be school or work, the common cold is to powerful at times at grounds us to our homes.
Due to the recent high number of high cold and flu cases the state is trying to put a stop to this cold wind blowing through Hawaii.
4.1% of the population of Hawaii was said to have been infected with the cold or flu virus. Doctors who are a part of the Hawaii State Health system have said that the 4.1% of people infected with the cold virus could go up as high as 5.9% this year and even more next year.
One of the major contributors to this 4.1% of cold cases in Hawaii is the high number of visitors who come to Hawaii experience a sudden change in temperature of which their bodies are not accustomed to causing their bodies to be more able to catch a cold.
Visitors to Hawaii in the near future should be aware of the possibility of catching a cold or flu and should stock up on Vitamin C along with other vitamins in order to strengthen their immune system. Also, when leaving the shower visitors should try to keep the room mildly humid to reduce the shock on the body when leaving the shower.
Although there are many ways to prevent catching the common cold, one of the best ways is to have lots of sleep and rest. Nothing can beat a good night’s sleep. Take care and stay healthy.
