　The first thing you will notice when you take a glimpse at the Byodo-in is the magnificent red gate giving you the feeling that you are in ancient Japan. Byodo-in is Hawaii's secret doorway to historical Japan so you gotta check it out.

　If you take the H-1 freeway onto the H-3, get off at Kaneohe, then go straight on Kahekili Highway, you will see the Valley of the Temple Memorial Park, a cemetery, on your left. Byodo-in which we visited this time, secretly stands in the middle of this place.

If you proceed into the cemetery, there is a parking lot around 50 meters big while being surrounded by mountains and the place has a nostalgic scent.

As you get out of the car, you first pay $2 at the information desk, and if you cross the red bridge in front of the information desk, there is a temple that looks like as if it was straight out of Japan on the other side of the bridge.
