　At long last, the Hawaii Superferry has arrived in a “BIG” way! On August, 21 (Tuesday) the media was invited to a special Superferry “Trial-Run” The Superferry is 107 meters long, can hold up to 866 people, has 282 chairs, and will be open to the general public on August 28 so get ready Hawaii!


Well, just what the does the name Alakai mean? Alakai comes from the ancient Polynesian word, “Na Alakai” which means “road in the sea”. Polynesians are known for their star, wind, and wave navigation techniques used a long time ago, giving way to the name, “Alakai” for the first Superferry in Hawaii. Perhaps the most splendid feature of the Superferry is the beauty which stands out from even far away. The beautiful image of a Manta family is drawn on the exterior of the ship along with Superferry logo.
