Radisson Hotels in Hawaii gone
The last Radisson Hotel in Hawaii will be gone by the end of October of 2006. According to the Star Bulletin, the current Radisson Prince Kuhio Hotel will become the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio, reborn as part of a new brand.
The address of 2500 Kuhio Avenue will not change, but of course the interior and exterior will be seemingly changed into a more luxurious image. Stanford Hotel Corporation based in San Francisco, is investing $5 billion. This is of course for the costs of the renovations to the interior and exterior, and also includes the cost of building 7000sf, a high-class spa.
The spa is planned to be built on the first floor of the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio. It covers the spa boom that the visitors currently visiting Hawaii are experiencing, and the plan is also to let visitors enjoy a high-class spa away from the beach, also known as “off Waikiki”. In 1999, the Stanford Hotel Corporation bought out the Radisson Hotel from what seems to be Outrigger Hotels at the time. Currently, the Hilton brand name is very influential in Hawaii, so they made the change for their benefit says the vice-president of Stanford Hotel Corporation.
At the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio, there are plans to have a specialty Hilton bed in each room, high-speed internet access, a 42-inch plasma television, and special outlets for laptops and Ipods for MP3s. If you’re wondering about the price, a city-view room will be from $229 a night, and the ocean-view rooms will be from $449 a night. A suite can cost you a whopping $1200 a night! Currently at the Radisson Prince Kuhio Hotel, the price for a city-view is from $189 a night and ocean-view from $279 a night. A suite costs at the most $900 a night which is a big difference. Just by looking at this, you have a feeling that this hotel will transform into a very luxurious hotel.
