Treasure hunt in Hawaii!
There is a new adventure game popular among GPS users. GEOCACHING allows GPS users to participate in cache hunts by taking advantage of the wonderful features and capabilities of GPS units. In simple terms, individuals and organizations can set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users then use the location coordinates to find the caches and receive a variety of rewards in exchange for leaving something of their own for the next person.
For those of you not familiar with GPS, a GPS unit is an electronic device that can determine any location within 6-20 feet on the planet, which was invented as a practical tool for boats, cars, planes, etc. Coordinates are normally given in Latitude and Longitude. GPS users can use the unit to get directions to any such location. Some units come with voice navigation, maps, built-in electronic compasses, etc. depending on the device.
GPS units can now easily be purchased at reasonable prices so it’s no surprise they have become a popular new source of entertainment. Think of it as an international modern-age treasure hunt for computer geeks!
