Who is the lady at the entrance of Waikiki?
May 4, 2008
Have you wondered who the bronze lady is that sits around at the beginning of Waikiki?
This bronze statue is called “Story Teller”, and was created by Shige Yamada, a local Japanese artist who lives in Maui. This Story Teller is a person who teaches the younger generations about Hawaiian cultures with songs and stories.
Being big and fat is a symbol of beauty in Hawaii and you can feel the original Hawaiian culture and beauty of Hawaiian thoughts from this bronze statue.
