Dive at Waimea!!!
Beautiful Waimea Beach, located just 10 minutes away from Haleiwa Town. This beach is famous for the surf tournament held there in honor of surfing legend, Eddie Aikau. Though Waimea Beach is known for it's monster waves in the winter, in the summer, the beach takes on a whole different look. The water is still, clear, and the waves gentle.
This is when the fun begins. At the beach's outermost tip, kids and adults alike bravely dive off a rock into those clear waters. You might be afraid to take the plunge at first, but trust me, once you taste that thrill, you'll be jumping in over and over again in no time. And this is by no means only for the big boys – elementary school kids and young women have been known to take the plunge as well, so there's really nothing to worry about. This is the best thing in the world you're a thrill seeker, or just somebody that likes to take on a challenge.
That said, while the jump itself is definitely a thrill, you should aways remember to exercise the utmost caution when doing this. Before you jump, take a look at how the other people do it, so you understand exactly how to be safe during the jump. Lifeguards are always on the scene, so feel free to ask them any questions you might have. And if you're a girl that's too afraid to jump alone, don't sweat it, as there are many girls that take their jumps together with a male partner. It can be a bit scary standing up on that rock right before your jump, which is probably why there's such a friendly atmosphere amongst the people waiting for their turn.
The waves do get a bit bigger in the evening, so small children and people who aren't confident swimming should just relax and have fun in the sand. You might even catch a beautiful sunset, as the sun slowly dips below the horizon, painting the sky and the ocean a breathtaking shade of orange. It just doesn't get any better than that.
