Hawaii Maritime Center
The Hawaii Maritime Center is an ocean museum located next to Aloha Tower, that many tourists don't seem to know about yet.
At the Hawaii Maritime Center, you'll find many articles on display that tell the deep history of Hawaii and the ocean, like how the Polynesians were able to sail across the Pacific Ocean and discover Hawaii, with only the stars to guide them.
When you enter the museum, you'll probably be overwhelmed by the massive whale skeleton on display - it stretches to over 13.5 meters long! It's one of only two such skeletons in the world - making it a very precious treasure. The museum's interior was designed to resemble the cabin of a ship, and you get explanations of all the displays via a headset that's given to you upon entry.
When you're finished checking out all the displays, head on over to the "Falls of Clyde" - an old boat that's docked next to the museum. This boat carries with it a lot of history, as it was actually used to sail between Hawaii and the U.S. mainland from 1800 to 1900. It really feels like you've traveled back in time when you step inside, so don't miss it.
If you ever wanted to better understand the ancient people who sailed the great oceans under the stars, head on down to the Hawaii Maritime Center today!
