Multi-cultural Valentines
It's that time of year again for couples to get excited about Valentines. But did you know that Valentine's in the US and Valentines in Japan are celebrated completely differently?

In Japan, only women give chocolate to men on February 14 (they have another Valentines day on March 14, where men give chocolate to women!). What's more, chocolates are not only exchanged between lovers but it is also considered a social obligation to give chocolate to coworkers, friends, and family. So if you're a man and you receive a chocolate from a female Japanese friend, don't be too sure it means she has a secret crush on you! In fact, she might well be buying her chocolate hearts in bulk.
And, please, don't take this information to mean you don't need to give your Japanese girlfriend a gift this Valentines day. When in Rome do as the Romans do!
