The Royal Hawaiian Hotel will be reborn
Since its inauguration in 1927, the Royal Hawaiian Hotel has remained an icon of luxury and romance. The legendary “Pink Palace of the Pacific” is recognized around the world as the ultimate vacation destination for family vacations, honeymoons, and anyone in search of elegance from a bygone era.
Unfortunately, the Royal Hawaiian will be closing its doors in June of this year. But don’t worry, not forever! The hotel is planning a large restoration project as it leads the way to a new era and redefines luxury. Plans are in progress to close the hotel for seven months around June 1, 2008 and reopen in late 2008 as one of the world’s elite collection of hotels for luxury and romance.
Construction details have yet to be announced to the public though it has been reported that the new Royal Hawaiian Hotel will have a much taller structure than at present, with an even more luxurious design and feel. As the first hotel built in Waikiki, and a symbol for long years of Honolulu around the world, this restoration represents a very important step in the history of Hawaii.
