【 Hiking 】

Once we stepped off the tour bus, we were overwhelmed by the smell of fresh trees and the chilly air that surrounding us. We had stopped at “the forest above clouds”. In this forest, you can see many different plant species that have thrived in Hawaii since ancient times.

Richard, who was our tour guide that day, told us that the plants here haven’t changed since the time of the dinosaurs. While listening to Richard and gazing around at the strange plants, we felt as if we were in a time warp, reliving the distant past.

Next, Richard took us to the coffee farm that produces organic coffee. It was delicious! Knowing that every little bean is grown in such a special place made me want to appreciate a fresh cup from the farm every morning.

【 Kayaking 】

After hiking in the forest, we went out to enjoy the clear water with some kayaking. Safety wasn’t a concern as BIGTI guides are well versed in safety and use the rider-friendly Malabu II kayak.

After a short safety lesson we were off, paddling away to our snorkeling destination. The water that day was beautiful and the fish were colorful and fantastic! BIGTI Tours reveal the true beauty of the Big Island. Far away from busy life. Far away from reality.
